Antonio Escalante wins the 2014 Manitowoc Restaurateur of the Year Award
On April 5, 2014 during the World Gourmet Series Awards of Excellence (AOE), Chef Antonio ‘Tonyboy’ Escalante was declared the winner of the 2014 Manitowoc Restaurateur of the Year Award.
As the culminating event of the annual World Gourmet Summit, the Awards of Excellence celebrates “outstanding accomplishments and exemplary individuals who make a mark in the industry. This prestigious award-giving body strives for the highest degree of excellence in F&B and hospitality industries, and in doing so, has raised the level and quality of culinary experience to new heights.”
According to the AOE website, the Manitowac Restaurateur of the Year Award “ seeks to recognize an individual who is the owner of an independent or chain of well-established, successful restaurant(s)…with a commitment to develop social initiatives in the culinary field and promote culinary and service excellence.”
“I am both honoured and humbled to received this award.” says Chef Escalante. “As any industry insider will tell you, running a restaurant is a team effort. And while this award may bear my name, it’s more of an acknowledgment of the people who work with me everyday to provide our guests the best dining experience possible.” he adds.
